TI-89 videos
Note that for each of the video tutorials shown below, there is a sound track associated with the video to explain what the student is seeing. Also, in the bottom right hand corner of the screen capture is a semi-transparent ‘box’ icon that allows the user to expand the view to full screen, which is far more useful. Note that this view is obtained by moving the cursor across the bottom area of the screen capture. Unfortunately it is not possible to fast forward, though it is easy to pause the video.
Section 1: Algebra
Part I – Solving simultaneous equations
Note that the video tutorial below deals with solving simultaneous equations, but it also deals with solving one equation at a time and how to transpose equations to make y (or x) the subject.
(i) Solving simultaneous equations algebraically
(ii) Solving simultaneous equations graphically
(iii) Solving worded simultaneous equations
Section 2: Statistics
Part I – In statistics we often want to draw charts to represent information: scatter plots, histograms and box plots, for example. We can also use the calculator to quickly and easily determine the line of best fit for a set of data and statistical measurements such as the mean, median, upper and lower quartiles, IQR, range and so on.
(i) Drawing scatter plots using Stats editor
(ii) Determining the line of best fit (regression line) for data AND calculating mean, median etc using stats editor
(iii) Drawing box plots using stats editor
